Website and SEO for machine builders

Strong engineering deserves a strong presence. Including where your customers search today.

We take your website apart like an assembly and put it back together so that buyers, Google and AI assistants understand what your machinery can do. In every language you deliver to. Led by Christoph Fraiss, mechanical engineer.

For machine builders and plant manufacturers with 50 to 200 employees in the DACH region

The path to an inquiry

This is how a search turns into an inquiry for your machinery.

Stage 1Your websiteApplication pages and datasheets as text explain what your machinery can do.
Stage 2 · Entry pointApplication checkThe digital machine advisor: visitors describe their application and receive a recommendation for a suitable machine.
Stage 3Lead in the CRMThe inquiry reaches your sales team with its context and source.

We build the application check as a digital machine advisor on your website, just like our own AI check.

01 · Why now

Your orders are growing abroad, and Google answers before anyone reaches your website.

Mechanical engineering is growing abroad, not at home. At the same time, Google answers many searches itself before anyone opens your site.

What has changed in search

Google now answers on its own before anyone opens a website.

  2. 7 Oct 2025AI Mode launches in Germany

What we hear in first conversations

Paraphrased, from manufacturers
  • Our customers can’t tell from the homepage what we actually do.
  • People searching for our solution today don’t find us.
  • In export markets, our German website is a hurdle.
  • Trade shows bring fewer contacts than they used to.

02 · The exploded drawing

A good mechanical engineering website consists of eight components.

Built around the questions buyers, engineers and AI assistants ask before an inquiry. Every component has a job and a reader.

Item 01

Application pages instead of a product catalog

One page per application and target industry. That is how buyers search, and how AI assistants recommend a manufacturer.

Reader
Purchasing, AI assistants
Check
Does the customer’s application come first, not the product name?
Item 02

Datasheets as readable text

Performance data sits in the HTML, not just in the PDF. Search engines and AI assistants read and cite it directly.

Reader
Engineering, AI assistants
Check
Can the performance data on the page be selected, copied and cited?
Item 03

Export languages as separate versions

Every language gets its own linked version. Written for the market, not just translated.

Reader
Purchasing abroad
Check
Does every language have its own URLs, and does it point to its sister versions?
Item 04

Service and spare parts inquiry

Existing customers find the direct route to you. Sales sees the context and the machine right away.

Reader
Maintenance at existing customers
Check
Does a spare parts inquiry reach the right team with the machine and the context?
Item 05

Trade show follow-up pages with meeting booking

One page per trade show with new products and meeting booking. Booth conversations turn into meetings.

Reader
Trade show visitors
Check
Can a visitor book a meeting directly the day after the show?
Item 06

References by application

Cases with starting point, solution and result, sorted by application. Anonymous, too, if customers prefer not to be named.

Reader
Purchasing, management
Check
Is every reference assigned to an application, even without a customer name?
Item 07

Templates for your team

Page templates your team fills in itself with AI support. New application, new page, without waiting for anyone.

Reader
Your marketing team
Check
Can your team create a new application page without any coding?
Item 08

Careers

Skilled workers read the same website as your customers. Good people are a sales argument, too.

Reader
Skilled workers and applicants
Check
Does the careers page show what you build?

  5. Palletizing robot

03 · AI visibility

AI assistants cite the page that matches the question most precisely.

Google AI Search, ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini and Claude answer questions using only a few sources. ChatGPT carries the industry from the question over into its sub-searches.

Our own measurement

When a question names the industry, industry pages are cited far more often.

Question names an industryQuestion without an industry

Share of industry pages among all cited sources, our own measurement over one month

19 of 25

sources cited in response to the question about an “agency for mechanical engineering” were industry pages in our sample.

We measure this in our own market. The same principle applies to your customers, just with your application instead of our industry. Our page on AI visibility shows how we build this.

04 · Relaunch, migration, expansion

Not every website that has grown over the years needs to be rebuilt.

Many mechanical engineering websites have hundreds of subpages and a lot of good know-how. We choose the route based on the state of your site, not on habit.

Route A · Relaunch

Rebuild when structure and messaging no longer fit

New structure by application, new copy, new technology. The site is built so that your team can expand it on its own afterwards.

  • The homepage explains products instead of applications.
  • Languages were bolted on later.
  • Every new page needs outside help.

Route B · Migration

Same content, new technology, every redirect in place

For large websites that have grown over time, where the content is right but the technology holds things back. Every old URL gets a redirect, so nothing Google and your customers know gets lost.

  • There are hundreds of subpages with good content.
  • The system is hard to maintain.
  • Existing rankings need to stay.
More on website migration
Route C · Expansion

Expand AI visibility on your existing site

The website stays. We add application pages, datasheets as text and technical readability for AI assistants.

  • Technology and design are fine.
  • You are missing from AI answers even though you know the subject inside out.
  • Datasheets have so far only been available as PDFs.
More on building AI visibility

Open choice of system: we build with WordPress, TYPO3 or Astro, whichever suits you. Want to use LinkedIn, trade shows and campaigns alongside your website to get more inquiries? Our page on industrial marketing for mechanical engineering shows how.

05 · Who understands your machine

Your project is led by an engineer who knows machinery from the inside.

Christoph FraissCo-founder · Technology and strategy

Christoph is an engineer with an HTL degree in mechanical engineering, an industrial engineer (MSc), and holds an international MBA from the Carlson School of Management and WU Vienna.

Over 15 years, he has led major projects, worked in the engineering of high-performance plants and run production and companies. He sat on the side of the investment decision-makers, with budget responsibility.

  1. Tool magazine · tool pockets, change time. Can the machine handle our range of parts without retooling?
  2. Spindle · speed, power, torque. Is that enough for our materials?
  3. Work area and swivel table · travel, table load, axes. Will our largest parts fit, and will we save setups?
  4. Controls · control system, interfaces. Does it fit our control systems, and can our team operate the machine?
  5. Chip conveyor · conveyor type, bin volume. Will the machine also run through the night shift without intervention?

These services put your machinery in front of the right buyers.

08 · Questions

These are the questions machine builders ask before getting started.

Your question isn’t here? In a strategy call, Nadine or Christoph will answer it personally.

Our customers already know us. Why do we need SEO?

Your existing customers know you. The new buyer abroad, the successor at an existing customer and the AI assistant putting together a shortlist do not. For all of them, the website is the first point of contact.

We have more than 500 subpages. Can this work without a rebuild?

Yes. For large websites that have grown over time, a migration is often the better route: same content, new technology, every redirect in place. After that, we expand the application pages step by step.

Can you actually write technical content?

Your project is led by a mechanical engineer. The facts come from your engineers, and we turn them into pages that buyers and AI assistants understand.

Which languages do you work in?

In the languages of your markets. At Pydro, six languages are live; at Schwab AG, German and French. Each version is written for its market and linked to the others.

Which system do you build the website on?

On the system that suits you: WordPress, TYPO3 or Astro. What matters is the scope, the languages and who maintains the site on your side.
